Americans remember Brian Mulroney as Canadian prime minister who shook up economy

Brian Murphy of The Washington Post reports on the legacy of former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney south of the border. He writes that Mulroney is being remembered in the U.S. for his close ties with American presidents and fearlessness in pushing forward economic initiatives like the North American Free Trade Agreement. Mulroney’s shared Irish background, Cold War policies and belief in deregulation led to a notably close bond with President Ronald Reagan, recalls Murphy.
