Canada mulls Chinese EV tariff following U.S. move but is not committing to it: CP

Mia Rabson of The Canadian Press reports that Canada is reviewing the recently announced import tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles by the U.S., but is not making any commitment to follow suit. Chinese brands are not a major player in Canada's EV market now but imports from China have exploded in the last year as Tesla switched from U.S. factories for its Canadian sales to its manufacturing plant in Shanghai. The Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association (CVMA) says Chinese EV makers have already made significant inroads in Europe and are looking to North America next.
