Canada’s economic future looks grim compared to the U.S.


Canada’s per-capita GDP has been declining, and the implications of this lack of productivity growth for our long-term standard of living are dire, especially when compared to our primary trade partner and economic competitor. The productivity lag means a declining standard of living and the out-migration of our best and brightest; the causes are population growth differentials, capital investment, investment in research and development, structural economic issues and the policy environment.
