WestJet is ‘‘working around the clock to safely bring the 130 aircraft parked across Canada back to the skies,” the company said in a statement.

WestJet is racing to resume normal operations following a three-day strike by mechanics over the Canada Day long weekend.

The strike began on Friday and ended Sunday, with more than 1,000 flights cancelled as of Monday, the Calgary-based company said in a statement. WestJet said travelers can expect more cancellations in coming days as the company works to recover stranded crew and planes across the country.
