Online streaming services must hand over five per cent of domestic revenues, CRTC says: Reuters

Reuters reports that the Canadian Radio-television Communications Commission has determined that online streaming services operating in Canada will be required to pay five per cent of Canadian revenues to support local programming. The measure will start in the 2024-2025 broadcasting year and is expected to raise about $200 million a year. Funding will support local, Indigenous, French language and minority language content, according to the CRTC.
