Marieke Walsh of the Globe and Mail writes that Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is expected to release on Monday details of her government’s capital gains tax hike despite warnings from business and physicians’ groups who say the policy will harm the economy and drive away doctors. Freeland delivered a speech Sunday at a Toronto YMCA, saying the wealthiest Canadians can afford to pay more in order to help fund housing, a school food program and contraceptives. The tax change is set to kick in on June 25 and is projected to give the government a $19.4-billion revenue boost over five years.
