Sammy Hudes of The Canadian Press digs into a new report from the Canadian Urban Institute that says the average cost of infrastructure to support new housing will be about $100,000 for each new home. That funding would cover resources such as public transit, roads, water lines, firehalls and recreational facilities. The report suggests municipalities could develop new financing tools to enable them to share those costs with developers and others who will benefit from the infrastructure.
