Liberal Leader Mark Carney pledged to keep supply management out of U.S. trade talks, calling it “part of our economic sovereignty.” The party’s agriculture plan promises to defend the sector from U.S. tariffs, cut red tape, and invest $200 million in food processing and $30 million in marketing. The plan also includes permanent AgriStability payment caps of $6 million, increased cleantech subsidies, and faster tech adoption through food-safety standard recognition. “We’ll protect farmers and ensure Canadian food stays on Canadian plates,” Carney said.
