Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem appears before finance MPs four times a year on monetary policy, and as Nojoud Al Mallees of The Canadian Press reports, he must navigate a political minefield each time. Macklem keeps his responses focused on the implications of fiscal policy, as opposition MPs are eager to ask about politically charged issues like inflation and interest rates and Liberals craft questions to prod him to defend government policy.
