Canada’s population growth continues unabated, even as concerns mount over the housing affordability crisis. The number of people living in the country jumped by almost 243,000 in the first quarter, by 1.3 million over the past 12 months, and now exceeds 41 million.

Canadian households have slowed the pace of new borrowing, according to Statistics Canada data released June 19.

Canada's urban transit ridership reached 131.6 million trips in April, which is 83.7% of its April 2019 level. That's the highest recovery rate to date from pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels.
