A group of U.S. Senators is urging Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to boost defence spending.

The CBC’s Alex Panetta reports on a letter by 23 U.S. Senators calling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to do more to meet its NATO commitment to defence spending. The letter from members from both parties, represents “a dramatic and public escalation of pressure from Washington over a longstanding bilateral irritant,” Panetta writes. The Senators said this is one of the most dangerous times in NATO's history, and that allies must keep their spending commitments.
