Demand still outstrips supply – even after spike in new apartment builds

There’s been a surge in the construction of new apartment units, but demand still continues to outpace supply, according to a new report from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Jenna Benchetrit of CBC News writes that the report focuses on six major cities, and finds the combined housing starts fell by 0.5 per cent compared to 2022.
