Baby boomers have won the generational war. Was it worth young Canadians’ future?

In an opinion piece in The Hub, Eric Lombardi, founder and president of More Neighbours Toronto, writes that if you’re a baby boomer, you may have thought it disrespectful, ageist or unfair when being accused of waging a war on young Canadians. But, he writes: “To come of age in Canada over recent decades means having borne witness to a steady erosion of your future prospects, with society placing anxiety-inducing burdens that the dominant generation has voted to make your problem. The ugly reality is that younger Canadians are living in the aftermath of a transformation that has eroded the social contract between generations. We have seen nearly every system and institution become a pyramid scheme with the young at the bottom.”
