Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan has asked the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) to assess whether a disruption in rail service could have a negative impact on public safety. The Canadian National Railway Co. and the Pacific Kansas City Ltd. voted on May 1 to authorize strike action, but that strike can’t take place until the CIRB releases its decision.
